PPP candidate wins Karachi by-election, Imran's party ranks fifth
Islamabad.
Imran Khan's party PTI (PTI) has suffered a major setback in Pakistan. In fact, Imran's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf appeared far behind in karachi's NA-249 parliamentary by-election, winning by-election to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's Pakistan People's Party candidate Qadir Khan Mandokhel. He has defeated Nawaz Sharif's PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail. While Imran's party PTI candidate Amjad Afridi is fifth.
The great thing is that despite being banned in this by-election, Tehreek-e-Lubbek Pakistan fielded its candidate. TLP candidate Mufti Nazir Ahmed Kamalvi is third in this election with 11,125 votes. The same radical party had wreaked havoc on the streets of Pakistan a few days ago in the name of breaking diplomatic ties with France. After which the Imran cabinet banned the TLP as a terrorist organisation. Opposition parties contested separately in the NA-249 parliamentary by-election, though they claim to be united in the name of removing the Imran government. On the one hand, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari tweeted his thanks to the voters of Karachi. Meanwhile, PML-N chief leader and Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz tweeted accusing him of rigging the election.
In Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's Pakistan People's Party (PPP) candidate Qadir Khan Mandokhel has won karachi's NA-249 parliamentary by-election. While Imran's party PTI (PTI) candidate Amjad Afridi is fifth.
